A new world called Skylands, or the world of floating islands, has been created for PvP. Residents can enter it through a portal in the square in Prime City, which you normally teleport to with the command /spawn. There is currently only one arena in Skylands, but more will be added very soon, placed in various locations around the world. A hub with teleports to individual arenas will also be added at the portal. At the moment the arena is only accessible via a command, but the good thing is that you don’t need admins to agree with other miners, split into teams and go fight it out in the warzone.
After entering Skylands, just type the command /warzone TinyFortress, which teleports you to the so-called lobby above the battlefield. You split into teams by walking through the gate of the appropriate color. The arena is designed for 3 vs 3 players. For team chat use the command /team [message].
Once the teams are split, the game can begin. Everyone starts at their team’s spawn, which they also return to after death. You can tell your teammates from the opponents by colored blocks instead of helmets. In this arena there are 2 classes to choose from. The default is Knight with a sword and iron armor, and the second is Archer with a bow, 64 arrows and leather armor. The choice of which one you want to play is made by stepping on a pressure plate at spawn. However, once you leave spawn, you can’t choose again when you return, only after death and a new spawn.
If you and your teammates get tired of the battle, just type the command /war leave, which ports you back to the lobby, and with the command /home you can leave the world completely.
And what else is coming...?
Of course, this first arena TinyFortress is just the beginning. There will be many more arenas, for different numbers of players, different numbers of teams and even with more varied classes to play. And it won’t just be Team DeathMatch, there will also be arenas for Capture the Flag. Some scenarios even provide capturable monuments that then replenish the health of team players.
The battlefields may also differ in whether their scenery is indestructible or whether it’s possible to demolish practically everything. And since Minecraft is essentially about building and demolishing, classes that don’t just have a sword or bow are also expected... In some arenas there will even be a Builder equipped with building blocks and a pickaxe, who will be an essential part of the team for building fortifications, or a Demolitioner with TNT blocks, whose purpose you can probably imagine yourself :)
Each battlefield has a defined area, so you don’t have to worry about having to chase your opponents across the entire map. The area is protected by a glass wall that appears whenever someone approaches it. Moreover, even in the event of the complete demolition of the entire arena, it will be automatically restored to its original state at the end, so no one needs to hesitate to make a real mess here ;)
Now GateCraft really has balls, don’t you think...? ;)
