Themed worlds
The server's philosophy is built on travelling through gates between individual worlds. Each world has its own rules and purpose. Everyone starts with the first task: get out of the Rogue Lands world and thereby prove your skill and determination. Further available are: the world for social life and city building called Kingdom, the world with ready-made mines for resource extraction Mining Colony, the adventure world with dungeons Inferno (PvE). For those who prefer PvP over PvE, there are Skyland Warzones, where you will find fully automated PvP arenas.
Over time local heroes discovered more gates into many new worlds, so there is always something to explore.
Player community and communication
On many servers players know each other only from text console and may never meet in person. On this server players have their own towns where they live their lives, but there are also social places such as Kingdom's spawn in Prime City (the capital) with gates to other worlds, shops or worlds like Mining Colony, where players can meet regardless of where they live. Another link are organised social PvP games :)
The server is intended not only for Czech players but also for miners from abroad, so another important element in the game is well-managed communication. This is solved by separate channels, so everyone can choose one or several they want to follow and ignore the rest.
Safety of valuables and maintaining intelligent play
The server is secured by many anti-grief plugins and we are able to track down any crime. Anyone who violates the server rules can expect a ban or a stay in the correctional facility Phobos Prison. Eliminating problematic players ensures a safe world for all who play fair and do not want to live in fear.
Players themselves have access to the /pr i command which can display possible property damage or theft, so they can uncover the culprit themselves and report them to the authorised person (Sheriff or Agent), who will deal with them. Although it is not a mandatory rule, it is common practice that in case of property damage the victim's loss is compensated to some extent ;)
Events, Quests, Dungeons and PvP
Escape the stereotype of non-stop mining and building... GateCraft is a living world. It offers not only static attractions but also various random events that open new ways of entertainment in the game and possibly also ways to gain new items, experience or money.
Dungeons offer highly variable locations, often with randomly generated treasures or otherwise unobtainable resources. Quests add the possibility of extra income by killing specific monsters. In all special locations monsters are spawned and controlled by the proprietary plugin GateSPAWNER.
Some locations even have monsters and treasures generated depending on the number of heroes near strategic spots. This means both difficulty and reward grow with the number of players who set out for adventure in a given location ;)
Unique proprietary plugins
We develop our own plugins tailored to our server's needs.
- GateBASE – a package of basic tools for other plugins.
- GateCRAFT – handles all general operations, for example: automatic promotions, detailed logging of user activity for the addicts leaderboard, automatic draining of Clay Lake (generator). While fishing it is possible to catch both common and occasionally rare items. Generates treasures and monsters in Blaze Bridges and more extensions keep coming.
- GateSPAWNER – allows control over spawning monsters, blocks, lightning, items or chest contents. Settings are very detailed, so it is possible to spawn at intervals or only under various conditions and circumstances. In case of mobs it is possible to set their level, XP drop or even special abilities such as shooting fireballs, generating electric creepers and so on.
For some time now more plugins have been in preparation that will follow. We plan to release some more general plugins in the future as open-source, but for now that is only music of the future and our know-how.
Professional server
GateCraft is a server with high performance requirements because it consists of many different plugins that together ensure a very complex world offering varied possibilities. Moreover we operate on an international scale, so it is necessary to have solid connectivity both to the Czech Republic and to foreign countries. Fortunately we have all this secured. The server is actually located in Germany and is very well tuned to run stably and without lag, with ideal response to all key countries.
Most servers present themselves as having a quality, sometimes even elite community, but the truth is often surprisingly perverted. On GateCraft many people filter themselves out right at the beginning, because the server is set up so that only players with, let's say, more than just a speck of intelligence can progress further. It is basically necessary, because this is no primitive pure server and learning many new elements, commands and diverse game options is essential. Therefore this server is sought mainly by an older community and the average age here is about 22! ...pubescent kids often eliminate themselves voluntarily.
Admins (agents) and moderators (sheriffs) are selected based on long-term observation of their participation and behaviour in the game. To maintain a high standard we don't let just anyone onto our turf. Only flawless players become staff, for whom it brings more duties than advantages, but on the other hand it allows them to participate in controlling and possibly building their favourite server.
