We can finally enjoy the new features that version 1.2 brings :)
...among the most interesting ones are:
- new Jungle biome
- new Ocelot mob that can be tamed. While not as offensive as a tamed wolf, creepers give these companions a wide berth :)
- Iron Golem protecting Villagers
- new improved AI for some mobs
- zombies can break wooden doors
- you can craft a lamp from Glowstone

News keeps coming and will continue to come from the GateCraft server side as well. One of the current ones is the removal of the /sethome command which was relatively often abused. The /home command remains, but the teleport destination is now set by right-clicking a bed. It's probably clear that not all players will appreciate this, yet this server has been aimed at a hardcore community from the very beginning, and this change fits right in. Beds will gain even more importance with an upcoming update to be announced soon ;)
Temporary issues
Unfortunately this is a rather major update that requires updating the vast majority of plugins, so expect some problems. At the moment we are struggling with the following issues:
- statistics data collection is down
- dependency table data collection is down
- NPC quests are not working
- the Skyland Warzones and Nordic Treasures worlds are closed
- communication channels need to be reconfigured
- communication has suffered cosmetic downgrades:
- IRC no longer shows nick colors or decorations, plus it now passes the in-game channel abbreviation in the text
- colors from IRC are poorly transmitted in in-game messages, and the pipe character in nicks has been replaced by the string "(IRC)"
Although extensive testing has been done, additional issues may still appear. The Bukkit server is still in Beta and many plugins are still being fine-tuned. On the other hand, future changes for the better can be expected ;)
