Blog: What is the new Chaosphera about?

Chaosphera has been available to players for quite some time, so we decided it would be useful to give you as much information about it as possible in the form of an overview of the locations and dungeons found within it.
02

Chaosphere is a brand-new world, specially designed and built exclusively for GateCraft. It is a realm where players set out for adventure, rare treasures, special items, or simply to test their skills in PvP, which is allowed here absolutely without penalty and with everything that entails. Duels can therefore be arranged, or you can ambush, kill and rob someone. Killing players in Chaosphere has another interesting consequence: every time a player dies at the hands of another, the victim’s head drops bearing the killer’s name, the weapon used, the damage dealt (HP) and the date. The head naturally displays the player’s skin when placed.

Teleportation is disabled throughout Chaosphere. This is due to the unique vibrational frequency of matter in this world. The only places where teleportation is possible are so-called teleport pads. Because the transfer is demanding, preparing a teleport takes much longer than usual.

Three TeleportMasters also roam freely in Chaos. These NPCs allow direct travel between all three outposts. The catch is that they are unwilling to share their secrets freely, so players must visit each outpost in turn before they can use them.

Chaos Maze

Chaos Maze is a labyrinth that players see immediately after passing through the Star Gate into the world of Chaosphere. It is a nether-brick maze that hides altars with treasure consisting of XP bottles. The treasures, however, are not left unguarded. The treacherous Pigmen do not wish to give up their valuables, so a guard has been posted at every altar. The guards are, of course, specially tuned according to the value of the treasure they protect.

03

Part of the maze is also a large Citadel that serves as a place to summon a boss – the Pigmen Overlord. This nasty creature guards a treasure chest containing rare and special items such as bows, fishing rods and more. The loot may also include the epic item Legacy of Elders with special enchants unobtainable anywhere else. Leather boots that increase the player’s movement speed in the world can also be found here.

04

Undead Forest

This dark forest, stretching south of Chaos Maze, is no place for a picnic. Cursed undead zombies prowl here, able to infect adventurers from the Kingdom with nausea and temporarily hinder both their movement and sense of direction. It is said that to open up to the heroes of the Kingdom, a hero must arise who has not yet appeared on GateCraft.

05

Quartz craters

West of Chaos Maze lie craters that represent the way to obtain Quartz on this server. It is no easy task, however – Quartz only appears at night, accompanied by falling meteors and Blazes who refuse to give up their precious resource. If brave players survive the night near the craters, they can mine Quartz during the day and carry it back to their towns.

06

Netheris

This village is located in the hellish mountains south of Chaos Maze. Brave heroes from the Kingdom founded a settlement here where players can rent houses or trade. A gate to the Nether leads directly to a pigmen village where quests can be completed. Two entrances to infernal mines can also be found, where players can mine Netherrack. Because travelling on foot is inconvenient and time-consuming, a teleport pad was built here, allowing players to teleport back to the safe lands of the Kingdom.

07

Revenant Wastelands

This desert, arid land modelled after the Grand Canyon lies southeast of the Chaos Maze labyrinth. Treacherous marshes here are inhabited by skeletons armed with bows and huge supplies of arrows that love to greet passing players. Many a great beast or dragon has fallen victim to them after daring to land in these marshes in the hope of finding water to quench their parched throats.

Skeledar

To the south of the Revenant Wastelands lies the once-prosperous city of Skeledar, now afflicted by a terrible curse; its soldiers, long dead and transformed into skeletons, still strive to defend the city’s treasures.

08

In the chests here you can find long-forgotten weapons such as Scalpel, Skeledar's Wrath, Omni Bow, Tanelorn’s Star and others. The very guards of Skeledar can literally drop their swords Revenant’s Sword or their battle-axes Revenant’s Axe, and of course magical bones, some of which can be used for black magic, otherwise known as necromancy. The main benefit of necromancy is the ability to summon at will your own Skeleton horse, which players can create from a whole stack of first-quality bones and a leather saddle.

09

Withador

This picturesque little town was founded by the first adventurers who ventured into these inhospitable plains of the Revenant Wastelands. It is located on an archipelago in the southwest of the plains. The individual islands are connected by suspended walkways, and pilgrims from the Kingdom can rent a house here that can serve as a forward base for expeditions into the perilous Skeledar. Shops can also be rented here, and because Withador is miles away from the Star Gates, it has its own teleport pad that allows players to teleport back to the Kingdom.

10

Marshes of Oblivion

These treacherous swamps are home to poisonous spiders and unpleasant rat-like creatures known as Silverfish. Wooden walkways firmly built on pillars also span the treacherous and dangerous soaked ground.

11

Fungi and rare herbs thrive in these marshes, so it is no surprise that cunning and powerful witches have made their homes here, secretly brewing special potions whose recipes are passed on only to the initiated. Players can thus obtain potions that cannot be prepared from any currently known ingredients. The rarest and most powerful are the potions Potion of Immortality and Potion of Liquid Death.

12

Enderie

Northwest of the Chaos Maze labyrinth lies the mysterious world of Enderie, home of the Endermen. Levitating strange crystals and an enderman fortress can be found here, hiding more than one treasure chest. The black, three-block-tall guardians tolerate no intruders in their territory. Every player who dares to enter these lands is immediately attacked and must fight for their life every metre of the way to reach the coveted treasure. The chests contain Ender pearls, Endstone and, if the player is truly favoured by fortune, even a Beacon, otherwise unobtainable on the server.

13

The Endermen themselves are also useful. If players manage to kill them, in addition to the usual drop of Ender pearls they also drop a unique armour set made of enderman hide. The armour has a special effect and the ability to store energy, which can be used to teleport outside the usual cooldown without consuming mana.

All information about the individual locations in Chaosphera can also be found in the GateCraft Wiki, and in the near future we are preparing an overview of the individual quests together with gameplay for you.
